The movies leaving Netflix this month

There's a shift in the air as October settles in—cooler nights, shorter days, and the unmistakable arrival of spooky season. But that doesn't mean your watchlist has to be wall-to-wall horror. This month, 41 movies are leaving Netflix—and the selection spans genres, from blockbuster rom-coms to indie classics, offering plenty of options beyond jump scares. Of course, the real fright comes from seeing a few favorite titles disappear just as the nights get longer.

There are quite a few reasons a film gets dropped from a streamer like Netflix; perhaps the movie's rights are no longer available, or its popularity doesn't justify the licensing costs. The motivation may vary, and though a lot of Netflix's October 2025 cinematic casualties already met their fate on the first of the month, there's still time to catch some of the departing films.

If you're easily frightened but still want to tap into the horror genre, there's a good middle ground with "Circle," a 2015 sci-fi thriller from directors Aaron Hann and Mario Miscione. It follows 50 strangers who wake up in a darkened room to discover they're being held captive and are facing execution. When they learn that they can quietly communicate and select the next person to die, factions emerge that test everyone's ethical boundaries. That death trap escapes Netflix on Oct. 16, but you'll have a little more time for some lighthearted fare.

For example, you have until Oct. 20 to catch "Anyone But You," about two single people (Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney) who pretend to be a couple at a destination wedding to appease parents and make their exes jealous. Then, you have a few more days to re-live all your mid-'90s nostalgia with "Empire Records," about a group of music store employees (including Liv Tyler and Renée Zellweger) who rally to raise funds and strengthen their relationships in the face of a corporate takeover. That fan favorite shuts down from Netflix on Oct. 23.

Want to know what else is leaving Netflix in October 2025? Stacker has you covered with this list of all the movies departing the streamer this month, along with the last day they'll be available to stream on the platform. There are also supplementary insights from IMDb on each film's director, cast, and runtime.

After you go pumpkin picking and trick-or-treating, keep these offerings at the top of your list!
